Starting off the New Year can be a little bittersweet. You reflect on everything that has happened in the past year and make your New Year’s Resolutions in hopes of accomplishing whatever you didn’t accomplish in the previous year. Fifty percent of resolutions revolve around healthy living, losing weight, and going to the gym more. However, most of the time these resolutions fail. It is always, “I’ll start on Monday,” but when Monday rolls around the change gets pushed off later and later. We create these elaborate plans for the New Year, but only eight percent of resolutions are fulfilled. ONLY EIGHT PERCENT!!!
The way to turn these healthy habit resolutions is to better understand what they are and how they can slowly be incorporated into your everyday routine. Let’s start this journey by adopting more healthy habits together.
What is a habit?
According to Oxford dictionary, a habit is defined as a settled or regular tendency or practice, especially one that is hard to give up. Habits make up everything you do in your everyday life. When you wake up, you get out of bed, make your bed, brush your teeth, get dressed, etc. It creates a routine. Once we develop a habit, it is almost like it is engraved into our brains. We all have good and bad habits. Good habits are strongly promoted because they promote positive behavior that is beneficial. Bad habits can be deemed as harmful because they create negative behavior patterns. It is important to have a healthy balance of good and bad habits.

What are healthy habits?
Healthy habits can transform your life for the better in multiple ways. Slowly adding healthy habits will cultivate a healthier lifestyle in the long run. They promote health and wellness. Some examples of healthy habits are exercising, having a nutritious diet, sleeping enough, and socializing with others. They can lead to weight loss, a stronger immune system, better mindset, longevity, and more energy.
Look over some of your own habits. Which ones do you need to break and what are some habits that actually enhance your life in a positive manner? Feel free to share it in the comments.

My New Year's resolution was to exercise more. It's not too difficult to achieve because I came off a bad year in terms of exercise. I've been doing a good job of it, but sometimes the aches and pains get me down. I also need to reduce the carbs in my diet. I'm trying to find the best place to start with that, but its food and drinks I really love! Anyways, the goal was to do better than last year and that I am!
I am very big on setting short and long-term goals for myself and that consists of staying accountable to healthy habits that I incorporate in my life. My biggest "healthy habit" is making sure I consistently eat clean and healthy and go to the gym 5-6 times a week. I am very passionate about fitness and health/wellness, and I think you touched on every aspect of a healthy habit. The one bad habit of mine revolves around time management/ procrastination. I think being on my phone plays a great part in that and I am actively trying to change it. You should check out my blog "The Recipe for a Successful Day" I think you would really enjoy, but I…
This is not surprising to me as I also fall victim to the “New Year new me” phrase. I want to make a change for myself and then I never end up doing it! I would love to learn more about the steps you can take in order to keep on the track of achieving your goals.
Great Post. It's really crazy how only 8% of people actually follow through with their resolutions. Not too surprising though because every single year i make a new one and within the first week i completely forgot about it. This year was a little different i told myself i wanted to go to the gym more in 2022 and i've been sticking to it really well so far. The next one i have to tackle is eating healthier but who knows if thats gonna happen so i guess it could wait until next year.
